Happy Halloween!

The ladybug had a great day ... although bedtime was a challenge because she was quite wound up and overtired. The frog also had a good day and one could say "begrudgingly tolerated" her costume. Thank you to A&B for the loan of the frog costume. We'll get it all washed up so Baby Boy J can sport it next year!

We brought fun Halloween goodies to share with our friends at day care. And Fiona brought home quite a bag of treats ... we haven't even had the time to go through it yet. She is very excited about candy and doesn't understand why I won't give her an endless supply.

She was also quite intrigued by the trick-or-treaters and didn't quite understand why I was giving away "my candy." Sweet girl. Unfortunately we were out trick-or-treating during the peak time, so we have lots of candy left. Rats!

Raising a Princess

Cousin Anna gave Fiona a wand for being a flower girl. So we taught her how to magically turn people into princesses. Then Auntie Emmy came over and Mike taught Fiona how to turn Emmy into a frog ... (hee hee). Since then, Mike, Yogi, Quinn, and I have been turned into princesses and frogs - depending on where we rate at that moment.

So last Sunday, this happened:

F: Daddy, you a princess. (while waving her wand)
F: Mama, you a princess. (wand wave)
F: Yogi, you a frog (wand smack)
... apparently Q was off the list for the day. She didn't make the wand rounds.
S: Bugs, are you a princess?
F: (waving her wand and looking me straight in the eye) No. I a queen!

And then today, Ms. A sent us this note from day care:
Fiona has been dressing up so much lately. This morning's outfit was a sky blue tutu rimmed in sequins, a pink princess top ... and a cordless drill (from the play tool bench). It was perfectly her. Feminine, yet capable of handling anything.

Pumpkins in the Park

Our ladybug
In mid-October, we met the S-town gang at a community event at a local park. For a very reasonable $5 per kid (and Q was free), we got to come in costume, take Fiona trick or treating, have a snack, play in the bounce house, see the fire truck, and get a free pumpkin.

Fiona was beyond excited to don her ladybug outfit and happily mugged for pictures. She was very nervous when we got there and wanted to stay in the stroller. But once the trick or treat path started, she was up for getting some candy!

We hung out with our toddler buddies and even saw some of our day care friends there. It was a bit misty and cooler - but Fiona's costume is warm. And Quinn slept most of the time (hooray new double stroller!). It was a great way to get out and enjoy a fall day as a family. We only wish we could have brought Yogi. But it was a busy place and he would have been very stressed out!

Sweet Sisters

The girls have been so sweet to each other lately. It's so fun to watch. Bugs transitioned well (at least so far) to Q joining her at day care. And other than being a puddle of tired in the evenings, Quinn loves day care too. Gma and Gpa J helped us out on Thursday and Friday when day care was closed and I think the kids LOVED having all that love and attention.
The video is of Fiona singing lullabies to Quinn. She starts with "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and then sings "The wise man built his house upon the rock." She only sings the first line of songs - even when she knows the whole thing. Not sure why, but it's her thing!
