Last Day of School

Today marks the end of an era ... it was our last day of picking up the kids from multiple locations (for a few years at least). Dec will keep going to A's over the summer to get those last few months with his buddies - but the girls will be home with Nanny N. And once school starts again, all three Vs will be at the SAME SCHOOL. Hallelujah!

Everyone was very excited this morning - because the last day of school is good fun. But wow was there a crash of emotions tonight. Dec can't decide if he's thrilled for more time with his friends or suspicious of the girls daring to have fun without him. Fiona is ready for a break, but sad to leave her teacher. It was a really good year and she will miss certain parts of the school day. Quinn is despondent. She sobbed tonight about school being over. The saving grace is that her teacher made her a book of worksheets that she can do this summer, but she is worried they won't last the whole time. I assured her I could find additional worksheets. Fiona offered up her own math workbook (although I suspect that was less altruistic than it sounds). I love their extremely diverse personalities, but you guys, sometimes parenting all those differences is exhausting!

Nanny N starts on Monday, so that will probably feel like the official start of summer.]We will do an official end of the year celebration in some way - but tonight was just not the night. Instead we snuggled up, watched a show, and headed to bed early. As conflicted as some might feel about the end of the school year, the more relaxed summer schedule might not be the worst thing!
