Spring is here! While we would not be completely surprised if there is another snowfall (just for fun) before summer, we've washed and stored the winter gear. Snowpants no more - for a few months! The last couple weeks have been a mix of cold fronts and rain, but the weekends have been glorious! We resoundingly approve!
Last Saturday, we were in another suburb running errands and decided to grab lunch at the Wendy's drive-thru and head to a park for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we all played on the playground for a while and then walked down the trail by the lake. We found a little beach and Mike tried to teach the kids how to skip rocks. When I went to skip one, we realized I should have taken the refresher course as well! The kids haven't figured out the skip quite yet, but they did have a blast throwing rocks in the water. And no siblings were drilled by wayward rocks - a total win!
We spent most of today outside as well. I taught the girls how to swing off high objects using the trapeze in the tree last week; they were thoroughly enjoyed jumping off the slide and swinging today. Fiona even figured out how to jump off her swing. It's so amazing to watch them learn their limits and stretch their limits through play. They even commandeered a golf club from their brother to use as a trapeze retrieval tool.
Declan cannot get enough of outside and only struggles to decide which sport he is going to play. This morning, he was trying to hit the tee (for his t-ball set) with a soccer ball - using a hockey stick. He is simply obsessed with sports right now. I let him pick his shirt this morning ... he could choose a baseball shirt, a basketball shirt, a boat shirt, or a shirt with a football, soccer ball, and baseball. Obviously we went with the one with the most balls and as soon as he got it on, he ran off to show his dad and his sisters that he had "football. and baseball. and SOCCER ball."
Another cold front is blowing in tonight, which is a bummer for our outside time but really good for Mike's out-of-control allergies. Maybe we will luck out that next weekend will be as beautiful as today was.

I agree on the out of control allergies, and if I have to suffer give me the nice weather too (not barely out of the 30s rain)!
