She lost another tooth this week ... we are up to five. It got caught on her toothbrush bristles and popped right out. So much less drama than the snaggle tooth of the summer! She wrote the tooth fairy a note and was super pumped to get a note - and two quarters - back under her pillow in the morning.
She was incredibly excited when Mike told her he got a job at the theatre. She was less excited when she found out he wasn't going to be an actor on stage. And even less impressed when she found out he wouldn't be a waiter. Basically, she's not certain he has value-add at this point.
She's facing a couple medical things in the next few weeks and is being very brave. We are going to endocrinology next week to make sure her growth is on track. And then she will have a minor surgery on her bottom in February. She's asking lots of questions, but in the best way. We love seeing her engaged with managing her health.
She is killing it at ice skating. As expected, now that she has decided she wants to skate, she is picking it up incredibly fast. I watched her lessons last week and she would be all the way across the ice while the rest of her class was halfway across.
She is getting much more comfortable with other dogs. She was able to coexist with Lilly perfectly on Christmas Eve. Then today, my cousin Parker brought his puppy Marlow over. Within 5 minutes, Q was on the floor scratching Marlow's belly.
School is hard and she is tired. We have been struggling on the weekends a bit more lately as she is just plain worn down by the end of the week. She being sent to "rest" more often on the weekends than she would like - but goodness, she needs it.
Or should we say Spiderman. Or Jay (from Descendants). He basically spends his days doing flips and ninja moves. We are working very hard on knowing when it is appropriate - or not appropriate - to practice your sweep kicks. Especially since he almost knocked over an elderly man at church last weekend.
We got him a 4-lane racetrack and he will spend hours simply racing cars down his track and trying to ensure that Lightning McQueen wins.
He loves to sing SO much! I just taught him the chorus to Seize the Day from Newsies and he walks around the house, singing it on a loop. He can pick up (and remember) lyrics very quickly and says at least once a day, "this is my favorite song." He has a portfolio of favorites!
Yogi had his well check today and is very healthy (hooray!). His back legs are arthritic, but not damaged more than that. We are so thankful for this news and could not be happier that he is "as healthy as a horse" ... even though he's a dog! We are trying out a new medication that may help manage his arthritis.
Mike bought a snowmobile yesterday. This is something we've been talking about for a few years and it was finally the time. Of course, it was 40+ degrees today (sigh) so all our snow is melting. He took Dec on a ride in the back yard and you could see Dec's smile a block away. Hopefully the big storm they are predicting actually hits and we can get some snow on our trails to take the new toy out to play.
I'm enjoying my new espresso machine so much that it is driving a kitchen remodeling project. Because I want my fancy coffee maker upstairs instead of down on the bar. So hopefully in the coming weeks, a new cabinet is installed to enable the installation of an over-the-range microwave. We can't wait to get the microwave off the counter and gain that counter space. Especially for things that make lattes.
