Em's Stalking Adventure

When my family was down for Thanksgiving, Mike reminded us all that if we wanted to see the latest production at the dinner theater, we needed to get our ducks in a row. And by in a row, he meant January or later because they were already sold out during the holidays. As a family that now relies on the solvency of the theater, we appreciate sold out. As people who have gotten very used to premium seats near the stage, our table quite far back in mid-January was confusing.

I had Mike buy tickets for us for a Sunday evening show when [conveniently] the girls had no school the next day. Since Gma and Gpa were going to need to spend the night anyway, they were then able to hang out with the ladies while Mike and I went to work. Funny how things just work out like that … [The universe know no motivation like working parents who have to cover what feels like a million "no school" days between now and June]

Nanny J came over to tackle life with the short Vs and the rest of us headed to the theater for a viewing of Holiday Inn. Even though it’s not a Christmas story, the movie has always felt very Christmas-y to me (fun fact: that was the movie where the song “White Christmas” debuted). However, the play did not have that same vibe and I very much enjoyed it beyond the holiday season. Em and my favorite CDT actor was one of the leads and we were not sad to watch Tony demonstrate his dancing skills!

We took our time leaving after the show … especially since Mike was talking to a few people and raising his status as coolest in-law ever. By the time we got to the lobby, some of the actors were changed and out mingling. My sister lost her ever-loving mind because Tony was out there. After snapping the most hilarious picture of her stalking him, I big-sistered it up, marched over to him, and asked him if he’d take a picture with my sister. He was even nicer than we imagined and not only took the picture, but also visited with us for a bit. Em is smitten. Mike yet again wondered why he comes to these things with us – since he has to work with these people. [We’re not sorry about being super fans!]

The next show is Mamma Mia – and thankfully we learned our lesson about taking too long to get our seats. We are already booked and are back to our usual premium arrangement for the summer. Here we go again …
