The Handy Man Can

Mike the demolisher removed our banister and railing in May. And this last weekend, he and his dad put in the new one. HOORAY! Mike stained it all and they spent a good part of Saturday on the varnishing. Sunday was all about install. It looks great and Mike is rightfully very proud of it. AND best of all, we made our goal of getting it in before Baby arrived. He still has a bit of touch up work to do, but we already are enjoying the extra stability when navigating the stairs.


Yogi and I spent the better part of Sunday in the basement as we learned that puppies do not like nail guns. The sound is apparently very loud to his ears. So the basement, including the storage room, is cleaned within an inch of its life. I was not afraid of the nail gun so was not so fond of being stuck down there.

Yesterday, I did some baking (yummm ... zucchini bread) and we just got the garden harvest from Phil to make more pepper jam. The first batch turned out well and Mike is already requesting more.
