It rained all weekend. All. Weekend. And was cold. Our people don't do well shut in all weekend. Not since spring teased us with a few nice days. So we did what any parents tired of three-people-arguing-over-the-same-doll-stroller-even-though-there-are-three-strollers would do. We bundled everyone up and went outside. We are all better versions of ourselves outside.
Yesterday, it was family puddle jumping and group giggling when Mike made a splash so big that he got mud puddle water in his mouth. And I got to do an extra load of very very wet laundry.
Today was bikes, trikes, scooters, and the testing out of their new knee and elbow pads. By the time I got outside today, I found Mike and Fiona in deep discussion. Then, as she pedaled her bike across the garage to me, I realized that they had moved her training wheels so she was not using them at all! We headed down to the cul-de-sac so she had a bit more room (and a smooth road) to practice on. She got the hang of it right away and we were so impressed and proud of her. She's still working on getting started on her own, but is figuring it out. For her first day without training wheels, she did great!
We also tested out the new bike we got from a co-worker of mine - a "co-pilot." It's a bike for the kids that hooks on the back of one of our bikes (so it just has one wheel, pedals and handlebars). It allows the kids to ride along with us on longer trips, but not have to go up big hills or have the endurance all on their own. Dec can't reach the pedals yet, so is just along for the ride. But both girls can actually ride along with us (once Mike put blocks on both pedals so they can reach them) and love it. They feel so big and it's not too hard as the "big" rider to have them on the back. We're pretty excited to test it out when we go camping next month.
We're hoping for warmer days to be back soon. But I won't lie, we'll probably be outside anyway!
Way to go, Fi! We had a garage sale last weekend. It was horrible. We finally quit because it was pouring. Pouring. Miserable. We are redoing it today.
