Overall, the Twos haven’t been too
terrible with Declan. Or so we thought. Little dude apparently looked at the
calendar, realized his time in the Twos is limited, and figured he should
squeeze in all the terrible in a condensed time frame.
As it always feels in the throes of the Twos, the one that you're in is always the worst. Upon reflection, I vaguely remember telling Mike in
the throes of Q’s Twos that we only had one more cycle to deal
with. Which may mean that the girls’ Twos were not the picnics I seem to remember
(ah, the blessings of a mother’s memory).
Declan’s recent turkey-like behavior is probably more
apparent than it was with the previous Twos because there is no
infant to split our focus. He’s being compared to a couple somewhat shaped in appropriate behavior siblings as opposed to us trying to train a Two while also trying to keep a newly mobile infant from bodily harm or staircase suicide.
I remember Fiona spending a lot of quality time in time-out
during the Twos. Once we got into the Threes, it got a bit easier with her.
Quinn did better during the Twos and really gave us a run for our money during
the Threes. So maybe Dec’s just getting his in en force now and he’ll be back
to his delightful self for the Threes. I’m going to go with that plan. We’ll
see if he does.

Just an FYI...according to my education on child development, the 12th year is a repeat of terrible twos, 13 is awful threes, etc. They just have a little more sophisticated tactics :D Wouldn't want you to feel like it's all over when D gets through it! Love you all!
