Gifts From Grandma

Years ago, Grandma J found a quilt pattern called "Fiona" that she has been anxiously waiting to use. When the girls got their bunk beds this fall, she figured that was a good time. When we were up north for Christmas, Grandma asked Fiona what colors she would want in a quilt; so Fiona chose blue (of course), purple, pink, and green.

Eagle Ears Quinn was listening intently and asked if she got a quilt too. Grandma told her that of course she would, but that Grandma could only do one quilt at a time. So once F's quilt was done, Grandma searched through her patterns to find one that felt "Quinn" to her. When she found one, Quinn had me send Grandma her color list: lots of orange (of course), gold, yellow, pink, and a little bit of blue.

Grandma embroidered their names too
Grandma worked super hard to get the quilts done by the time we went north for the Polar Plunge and the girls were super excited to give them a test drive during our stay up there. We brought them home and when the monthly bunk shift happened on April 1, the new quilts debuted on the beds.

The quilts so wonderfully capture their personalities. Fiona's quilt is all girly, happy, and fun. Quinn's is bright, bold, and a little bit edgy - just like her! Best of all, I can tell that the quilts mean a lot to the girls. They know that Grandma made them and they treasure that. Quinn even told me that she feels like she sleeps in Grandma's hug!

**Teaser for the fall: I have a second Gifts From Grandma post drafted. Grandma N also has some serious craft skills. But Quinn's special gift is not done yet ... hopefully for her birthday. I can't wait to share that too!
